John Goumenopoulos studied law, sociology of law and constitutional comparative law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Trento in Italy. During his studies he received academic excellence awards from the State Scholarship Foundation and the Italian Institute. Following his studies, he held senior positions in a number of high-profile Greek companies in the areas of sales, marketing, strategic planning, and data protection.

For more than 15 years he was Director of the most influential legal publishing company in Greece, playing a decisive role in the market penetration of legal scientific publications in the Greek market. As an invited speaker at numerous conferences and seminars, he presented on various topics, related to sales, marketing, strategic management and data protection.

In 2016 he founded, along with a group of Greek and foreign partners, PRIVINTELLIGENT Sagl, a GDPR-related compliance and DPO services company based in Lugano, Switzerland. The company undertook a series of advanced data protection projects focused on the pharmaceutical sector both in Greece and in the EU (Santen, IBSA, PTC, Alnylam). John has extensive hands-on experience in Data Protection Officer services-consulting, as he was the Project Manager in large pharmaceutical companies DPO projects (IBSA-Institut Biochimique SA).

Having left PRIVINTELLIGENT Sagl, he founded GAGDPR with main focus to establish a specialized GDPR-related consulting firm in Greece.

Within MGS he is managing director and responsible for workflow coordination between the company and clients. Currently, John holds the position of DPO in OMMA-Ophthalmological Institute, based in Athens.

He is a frequent speaker at business and legal forums, with a rich agenda on GDPR matters.
Last but not least, John is a trainer in the ”DPO Executive” certification in Greece, in cooperation with business-oriented education organizations.
